scope:
This specification covers the general requirements for the application and inspection of applying an anodic, hexavalent chromium-free and HAP (Hazardous Air Pollutants) free coating to magnesium alloys parts, newly developed and/or used parts that have been stripped and cleaned down to the base metal (magnesium alloy). These coatings will provide corrosion protection and abrasive resistance properties to magnesium base metals, including magnesium alloys and to produce a surface suitable for the subsequent application of a protective organic finish (see 6.1), as applicable.
