This specification covers the general requirements for trimmer, air-dielectric, variable capacitors intended primarily for use in high-frequency trimming applications. These capacitors are suitable for operation over a temperature range of −55° to +85° C.

The part number shall be in the following form, and as specified (see 3.1 and 6.1):

The style is identified by the two-letter symbol "CT"; the letters identify trimmer, air-dielectric, variable capacitors, and the number identifies the shaft type and shaft length or dimensions or both of the capacitors (see 6.3).

The direct-current (dc) rated voltage is identified by a single letter in accordance with table I. TABLE I. DC rated voltages.

The nominal maximum capacitance value expressed in picofarads (pf) is identified by a three-digit number. For values of 1 to 9 pf, inclusive, the first two digits shall be zeros, and for values of 10 uuf to 99 pf inclusive, the first digit shall be a zero.

The rotational life is identified by a single letter in accordance with table II. TABLE II. Rotational life.
