This practice covers the process requirements for producing, on commercial aluminum and aluminum alloys, chromate conversion coatings by chemical methods from aqueous acidic solutions containing hexavalent chromium plus acid radicals and film-forming chemicals.
The procedures in this practice are intended to provide a standard of quality that can be met consistently by good commercial practice. Different requirements may be established upon agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer, after it has been established that these can be met in actual practice.
