scope:

This Standard covers Installation of bulk material, package of Unit handling conveyors, where the installation is designed for a peraanent, temporary, of portable operation.

This Standard shall apply, with exceptions noted below, to all conveyor Installations.

This Standard specifically excludes any conveyor designed for, installed for, or used primaruily for the movement of human beings. This Standard includes certain conveying device which incorporates within their supporting structure platforms or control rooms specifically designed for the authorized operating personnel.

This Standard does not apply to conveyors such as undergorind mine conveyors for which specific standards are already in effect or to equipment such as industrial trucks, tractor, and trailers, tiering machines, except pallet load tierers, cranes, hoists, power shovels, power scoops, bucket drag lines, trenchers, platform elevators designed to carry passengers or the operators, manlifts, moving walks, moving stairways, highway or rail vehicles, cableways, or tramways, Some of the foregoing also have specific standards.
