This specification2 covers high-tensile strength carbon-manganese steel plates intended for welded pressure vessels.

This material is produced in two types. Type I may be made to a semi-killed or capped deoxidation practice, while Type II is provided to allow the plate manufacture the option of furnishing a silicon killed steel. Either type may be supplied by the producer at his option.

The maximum thickness of plates furnished under this specification shall be % in. (19 mm).

NOTE-The values stated in U.S. customary units are to be regarded as the standard.
