scope:

This Standard applies to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene drain, waste, and vent (ABS-DWV) pipe, pipe fittings, and accessories such as factory-assembled expansion joints, closet flanges, and backwater valves.

This Standard includes requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions and tolerances, impact strength, chemical resistance, water resistance, dimensional stability, hydrostatic strength, solvent cement, and marking, as well as performance requirements for expansion joints, closet flanges, and backwater valves.

 Notes:

(1) Recommended installation practices for ABS-DWV pipe are given in Appendix A. Use of these recommended practices will help to ensure proper installation and optimum service life.

(2) Values shown in brackets are for information purposes only.

(3) The maximum pressure used to test DWV installations should be 100 kPa (see Appendix A).
