scope:

This specification supports the acquisition of two types of 152MM Gun-Launcher Cannon, each consisting of a breech mechanism assembly and a cannon tube assembly. This specification includes the minimum essential Engineering and Packaging Requirements and the necessary Quality Assurance Provisions to determine that these requirements have been met.

MIL-B-45588A, Notice 1, Breech Mechanism Assemblies for Cannon, 152MM Gun Launcher, M81E1 and XM162E1 has been cancelled and the contents thereof included in this specification. Cannon shall be of the following types as specified (see 6.2):

M81E1 - Cannon, 152MM Gun-Launcher. For use on the M551 Armored Reconnaissance Airborne Assault Vehicle. M162 - Cannon, 152MM Gun-Launcher. For use on the M60A2 Tank.
