The cables detailed herein use insulated cores complying with Table I of Def Stan 61-12 (Part 18) type 1 or type 2 and the sheathing material complies with Def Stan 61-12 (Part 31). They present a limited fire hazard cable, producing limited levels of noxious fumes, smoke and corrosive products when burnt.
Cables listed in the tables of Section A of this Defence Standard have a colour coding system that does not comply with the IEE Wiring Regulations, 15th Edition. Attention is therefore drawn to Clause 12-5 of the IEE Wiring Regulations.
Cables listed in the tables of Section B of this Defence Standard have a colour coding system that does comply with the IEE Wiring Regulations 15th Edition. These cables may be used in and about buildings generally and in the other areas/sites designated in the scope clause of the IEE Wiring Regulations.
All requirements and tests specified in this Standard are applicable"
