MODUK - DEF STAN 61-12 PART 25
Wires, Cords and Cables Electrical Metric Units Part 25: Cables Electrical Limited Fire Hazard, up to Conductor Size 2.5sq mm Cross Sectional Area
Organization: | MODUK |
Publication Date: | 17 April 1992 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 45 |
scope:
The cables shall be suitable for use on electric power and communications circuits with a potential not exceeding 600V AC RMS, 800V DC between cores, or between cores and the surrounding structure, or between cores and earthed screen(s) included in the cable, at frequencies up to 400Hz. The maximum cable conductor size is 2.5 mm2 cross-sectional area.
The cables detailed herein use insulated cores complying with Table I of Def Stan 61-12 (Part 18) type 1 or type 2 and the sheathing material complies with Def Stan 61-12 (Part 31). They present a limited fire hazard cable, producing limited levels of noxious fumes, smoke and corrosive products when burnt.
The materials used for cable constructions will give a service life exceeding 40,000 hours at a continuous conductor temperature of 85°C.
Users should be aware that two types of cores are available in the cables listed in this Standard, type 1 - pliable and type 2 - less pliable each identified by a different NATO Stock Number (NSN), Refer to note 1 page 19.
Users should check that these cables are compatible with the terminations and connectors with which they are to be terminated, with particular reference to cable connector sizes and insulation diameters.
All requirements and tests specified in this Standard are applicable.
