scope:

This Standard applies to motor vehicles other than passenger cars (as defined in Section 2 of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act) designed and manufactured, or converted, for the purpose of transporting persons with physical disabilities.

Notes:

(1) "Passenger car" is defined in the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act as a vehicle having a designated seating capacity of 10 or less, but does not include an all-terrain vehicle, competition car, multipurpose passenger vehicle, antique reproduction vehicle, motorcycle, truck, or trailer.

(2) It is the understanding of the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles for the Transportation of Persons with Physical Disabilities that due to the numerous requirements outlined in this Standard which are not applicable and/or redundant for motor vehicles of specific design and/or designation, this Standard was prepared for vehicles with GVWR of less than 10 000 kg.

This Standard specifies the design and manufacture of the vehicle, lifts, and ramps.
