This specification covers light weight electric cables for Navy shipboard applications.

Cables covered by this specification shall be classified as watertight, non-watertight and non-watertight with circuit integrity constructions, armored and unarmored, unarmored with overall shields and further classified for power, control, communications, instrumentation and electronic applications, as specified in 1.2.1 through 1.2.3 (see 6.2.1). A part number for cable and cord shall be as specified in 6.8 and the applicable specification sheet.

Cable types for non-watertight, nonflexing service as follows:
