Applicability.

This regulation applies to the Active Army and U.S. Army Reserve, Department of the Army civilian police and security guard activities, and contracted or contractor security force operations and activities. It also applies to the Army National Guard of the United States when federalized under title 10, United States Code. This regulation is required during mobilization.

Purpose

This regulation prescribes Department of the Army (DA) policy for the conduct of military police investigations, establishes policies and procedures for selection, training, and employment of military police investigators (MPI) and Department of the Army civilian (DAC) detectives/investigators, and identifies responsibilities for the conduct of the MPI program.
