scope:
This specification covers the bonding of glass optical components to metal for use in military instruments (see 6.1).
Bonding materials shall be of the following types, as specified:
TYPES
Type I - Bond with Type I Adhesive System, MIL-A-48611.
Type II - Bond with Type II Adhesive System, MIL-A-48611.
* The quality of a bonded assembly shall be of the following grades as specified on the drawing or in the procurement documents:
GRADES
Grade A - Bonds for prism assemblies or similar components where high quality is mandatory.
Grade B - Bonds for non-critical bonded assemblies.
Grade A shall apply to all bonded prism assemblies where grade quality is not specified.
