Abbreviations for use in titling drawings

This NES is not applicable to weapons system equipment drawings.

Section 1. lists the authorized abbreviations to be used when space or choice prevents a full representation of the title on a drawing. It is basically a list of single terms and the recognized abbreviations, but a number of word combinations have been included.

The abbreviations contained in Section 1. do not include those commonly quoted in as, ISO and similar standards nor those well known by common usage.

Ship Compartment Eauipment and System Codes

Section 2. lists code letters to be used on drawings and certain documentation relating to compartment and fluid systems.

Fluid system colour coding is to be as specified on Form S1188 (for Surface Ships) and Form S1471 (for Submarines).

Electrical system identification for use on cabling diagrams is to be as specified in NES 503.
