scope:

Part 1 of this final draft European Telecommunication Standard (ETS) has been produced by the Business TeleCommunications (BTC) Technical Committee of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and is now submitted for the Voting phase of the ETSI standards approval procedure.

This ETS is intended to comprise 3 Parts, currently being developed both in ISO/IEC JTC1 and ETSI TCBTC:

"Private Telecommunication Network (PTN); Reference configuration;

Part 1: Reference configuration for PTN eXchanges (PTNX);

Part 2: Reference configuration for High-Speed PTN eXchanges;

Part 3: Reference configuration for PTNX Extension Lines".

The contents of this ETS and by implication, the contents of ISO/IEC 11579-1 (1994) are in replacement of CENELEC ENV 41004 "Reference configuration for connectivity relations of private telecommunication network exchanges". In accordance with previous agreements between CENELEC and ETSI, ENV 41004 will be withdrawn when this new ETS is adopted.
