Foreword

This draft European Telecommunication Standard (ETS) has been produced by the Business TeleCommunications (BTC) Technical Committee of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and is now submitted for the Voting phase of the ETSI standards approval procedure.

This ETS is part 1 of a multi-part standard covering the Private Telecommunication Netwoek (PTN) Reference configuration as described below:

Part 1: "Reference configuration for PTN eXchanges (PTNX); [ISO/IEC 11579-1 (1994), modified]";

Part 2: "Reference configuration for High-Speed PTN eXchanges";

Part 3: "Reference configuration for PTNX Extension Lines".

The contents of this ETS (and by implication, the contents of ISO/IEC 11579-1) supersede CEN/CENELEC ENV 41004 "Reference configuration for calls based on ISDN connection types through private telecommunications network exchanges". ENV 41004 should be regarded as obsolete.
