This standard states the minimum requirements for float-free maritime Emergency Position-Indication Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) with release mechanism operating in the COSPAS/SARSAT system. The standard incorporates the recommendations of IMO assembly resolution A 611(15) and A 662(16), the Radio Regulations, the relevant requirements of CCIR recommendation 633, and the COSPAS/SARSAT specification C/S T001.
