This Defence Standard defines material and performance requirements, qualification approval procedure and production plate quality requirements for heat treatable, weldable aluminium-zinc-magnesium alloy armours in the form of rolled homogeneous plate of nominal thickness 6 to 120 rom for use in military vehicles.

Relevant parts of this Defence Standard may be used to control the quality of components made from the alloy plate but whose final shape is achieved by a working process during which the cross-section of the plate is not substantially changed.
