General Use Receptacles, Attachment Plugs, and Similar Wiring Devices

scope:
This Standard applies to the following wiring devices of the general purpose nonlocking and locking types, rated 60 A and less, and 600 V and less:
(a) general use and hospital-grade attachment plugs;
(b) adapters without male or female screwshell;
(c) general use and hospital-grade receptacles, including those intended for use with aluminum wire and those of the self-contained type;
(d) general use and hospital-grade cord connectors; and
(e) current taps and similar devices, such as flanged equipment power inlets and outlets; and the following devices for use with copper conductor, nonmetallic sheathed cables for mounting without a separate outlet box, in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I:
(f) self-contained receptacles, intended for flush mounting, rated 15 and 20 A, 125 and 250 V; and
(g) surface-mounted receptacles rated 15 and 20 A, 125 and 250 V.
This Standard also applies to metallic and non-metallic flush device cover plates and associated gaskest, both dry location and weatherproof types.
This Standard does not apply to
(a) pull-off plugs covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 57, Pull-Off Plugs for Electro-Thermal Appliances;
(b) receptacles, attachment plugs, connectors, and adapters intended for use in hazardous locations; and
(c) receptacles, attachment plugs, connectors, and adapters of the special-use types.
