1. SCOPE
The materials defined by these specifications are corrosion protective coatings over steel. They consist of either a zinc phosphate pretreatment or an alkaline clean and mechanical pre-treatment (shot blast). These pretreatments are followed by a zinc-rich basecoat then an integrally lubricated aluminum-rich topcoat. This duplex coating system provides lubricity for consistent torque-tension control, color, and enhanced corrosion protection. In both liquid and dry film, they are free of chromium, nickel, lead and cadmium.
