The equipment covered by this specification is a fast response Processor-controlled multi-channel air/ground amplitude modulated communications system. The transceiver portion will consist of either VHF and/or UHF communication systems as specified in the contract schedule capable of 5 uV sensitivity, 20-watts output and 90% modulation with 25 kHz VHF and 50 kHz UHF channel spacing. These equipments, will be used for emergency communications at FAA facilities. The Processor equipment will provide full site and equipment selection, tuning, push-to-talk, and other functions over regular telephone or similar intervening systems. This Part 1 of this specification is applicable to all other parts thereof.

intended Use:

These transceivers are intended for wide application in all FAA facilities where rapid frequency selection is needed (see 1-1.1.1 and 1-6.7.1).
