This document establishes the requirements and test procedures for the procurement of an electronic relay module.
The following electrical parameters reflect the 0° to 60°C end-of-life limits from table I.
Name Relay Family Relay Key code HRF Size 1B Weight 70 grams maximum Failure rate Electrical failure rate 0.21 failures/106 hours maximum Mechanical contact failure rate 0.25 failures/106 contact operations maximum Environment Class I as specified in MIL-M-28787 Maximum power dissipation 2.5 W Coil voltage and current per relay 32 Vdc at 25.4 mA maximum Contact rating 28 Vdc at 2 A maximum Pickup voltage 8.0 to 20.3 Vdc Dropout voltage 1.5 to 9.0 Vdc Operate and release time 18 ms maximum
The relay module, designated as key code HRF, is a plug-in Standard Electronic Modules Program (SEMP) electronic module with 0.100 inch (2.54 mm) grid center contacts. This module contains five relays, each with two normally-open and two normally-closed contacts. Across each relay coil is a diode for suppression of switching transients. Beneficial comments, (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to: Commander, Naval Electronic Systems Command, ATTN: ELEX 5043, Department of the Navy, Washington, D.C. 20360 by using the self-addressed Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.
When operating one, two, or three relays per module simul taneously, the maximum voltage which may be applied to the coil is 32 Vdc per relay. When operating four or five relays per module simultaneously, the maximum coil voltage must be reduced to stay within the module maximum power dissipation of 2.5 watts.
