Materials for wells, methods of mounting and type of joint between well and the mounting shall be in accordance with Drawing 810-1385917 for the services shown thereon.

Well bores other than 3/8 inch are intended for replacement purposes only or where a suitable 3/8 inch diameter bulb is not available. Wells with 3/8 inch bore are intended as a Navy standard regardless of type of sensor (see 6.1.3).

Thermometer for wells shall be as follows:

(a) Bimetallic - MIL-I-17244

(b) Liquid-in-glass - as approved

(c) Filled systems:

Gas - MIL-T-19646

Mercury - ML-T-940

(d) Electrical - as approved

MIL-W-24270/6 and MIL-W-24270/7 are intended for use on main steam systems.

MIL-W-24270/12, MIL-W-24270/13, MIL-W-24270/14 and MIL-W-24270/15 are intended for use in air conditioning and refrigeration systems where piping is O. D. sizes in lieu of ips.

MIL-W-24270/16 is intended for use with turbine first stage exhaust.

MIL-W-24270/17 is intended for use with a thermal switch.

MIL-W-24270/18 is intended for use in main steam systems having pipe 7, 8 and 9 inch size pipe allowable where velocities for 6 and 7 are excelled.
