scope:
This instruction applies to all United States Naval Aviation aircraft engines, modules and components for which Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has logistics and engineering management responsibility. The exceptions to this are prototype and experimental models whose type equipment code begins with the letters "X" or "Y". Additionally, this instruction does not apply to commercial derivative aircraft. All reporting activities, government and commercial, shall adhere to the procedures in this instruction. The procedures of this instruction shall be made a contractual requirement for non-organic support of EPSM's defined above.
Purpose. To prescribe management procedures for Engine/Propulsion System Modules (EPSM) and reporting procedures for the Navy Aircraft Engine Management System (AEMS) as outlined in references (a), (b) and (c). This instruction establishes guidelines that will be used by all aircraft engine custodians.
