scope:
This Standard applies to the construction and test of motors and generators for use in hazardous locations: Class I, Groups C and D, and Class II, Groups E, F, and G and gaseous mines; and for installation and use in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I and CSA Standard CAN3-M421, Use of Electricity in Mines.
Note: The term "machine" throughout this Standard may be assumed to mean "motor" or "generator".
This Standard applies to machines intended for use in ambient temperatures of
(a) -5Oto+40°CforClass I, Groups Cand D, and Class II, Groups E, F, and C;
(b) 0 to +40°C for gaseous mines.
