The standard specifies a Clear-Text Encoding of the PHIGS ar chive file. For each of the structure elements specified in the PHIGS Standard, a clear text encoding is specified. Allo wed abbreviations are specified. The overall format of the a rchive file and the means by which comments may be intersper sed in the archive file is specified. This encoding of the P HIGS archive file allows archive files to be created and mai ntained in a form which is simple to type, easy to edit and convenient to read.
