This recommended practice is intended to cover methods of installation for pressure relief valves. Where pressure relief valves are mentioned, it is intended to cover the use of safety valves, safety relief valves, or relief valves. It covers gas, vapor and liquid service generally, but does not cover special applications which require unusual installation conditions,

Maintenance is not included in this recommended practice, nor is it intended to cover piping design in detail.
