1. SCOPE

This Ford Manufacturing Standard applies to a l l Ford plants i n Europe. This standard defines the 3 safety colours (red, yellow, green), 1 auxiliary colour (blue) and 2 contrasting colours (black, white) t o be used for preventing accidents and meeting certain emergencies which may arise i n industry. This standard is i n l i n e with IS0 3864, also considered are British Standard BS 5378 and German Standard DIN 4844, parts 1 and 2. Safety colours shall be used t o identify areas and items of potential hazard and to indicate the location of devices and equipment of special importance from the point of view of safety, i.e. f i r e protection and first-aid equipment, emergency controls and escape routes.
