This Standard relates to non-flammable fluid suitable for use in the removal of paint films from metallic surfaces of aircraft and electronic equipment prior to re-painting. The paint remover can be applied to painted surfaces by brushing or by spraying as appropriate, allowed to remain undisturbed until the paint film has become wrinkled or softened, and subsequently removed, together with the residue of the paint film by scraping, followed by washing with water.

Note: Some materials such as plastics may be affected by dichloromethane. A separate Defence Standard is available for paint remover suitable for use with certain of these materials.
