scope:
This Defence Standard specifies requirements for a fully compounded unvulcanized black isoprene rubber mix which is primarily intended for the production of non-marking combined soles and heels by the direct moulded-on method of manufacturing footwear. The mix is intended to be moulded at temperatures not exceeding 165ºC to produce a vulcanizate with nominal hardness 80 IRHD.
The Vulcanized mix does not necessarily have good electrical properties and therefore it should not be used for footwear required to have antistatic or insulating properties.
