This handbook is intended for use in conjunction with current human factors and related specifications, standards, and handbooks to define terms, frequently used in those documents, and thereby provide consistency, eliminate overlap and duplication, and minimize repetition. For these same reasons, this handbook is also intended for reference during the preparation of new human factors and related specifications, standards, and handbooks. Telecommunication terms in this handbook are consistent with those in FED-STD-1037B. Use of telecommunication terms in new human factors standardization documents that do not appear herein should use or harmonize with applicable definitions in the current revision of FED-STD-1037.
