This specification defines the requirements for a system of two-pack, cold-curing, low-lead paints suitable for the protection of Service vehicles and equipment and providing a matt, heat-resistant and petrol-resistant finish with specified infra-red reflectance, good outdoor durability and a high level of chemical resistance.

Two separate primers are defined, Type 1 for use on ferrous substrates and Type 2 for use on non-ferrous and non-metallic substrates.

BS 381C No. 285 NATO green finishing paint complying with the requirements of this specification satisfy the requirements of DEF STAN 00-23.

NOTE: The paint system using Type 2 primer is identical in requirement to that previously defined in TS 50086C.
