scope:
This part of IEC 60086 applies to primary cells and batteries based on any electrochemical system. The objects are: to ensure the electrical and physical interchangeability of products from different manufacturers, to limit the number of battery types, to define a standard of quality and provide guidance for its assessment and to provide guidance on matters of safety. These objets are achieved by specifying nomenclature, dimensions, polarity, terminals, marking, test conditions and service output requirements for each battery.
