This Standard relates to two types of shellac adhesive, for use in the securing of paper to paper, paper to pape-board, paper, board or fabric to metal or wood i n the make up of ammunition components, except where the use of Adhesive, shellac, special, type QX' t o Defence Standard 80-47/1 is specified. The adhesive is normally applied by brushing.
The designation Type QX indicates that the material is of a quality suitable for application where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, i t s compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should therefore seek advice from the Director, Explosives Research and Development Establishment on particular applications
