scope:
This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for two grades of shellac adhesive, for use in securing paper to paper, paper board and board or fabric to metal and wood in the make up of ammunition components, except where the use of material complying with DEF STAN 80-47 is specified.
The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and users should seek advice on particular applications through the responsible Technical and Supervising Authority named in the tender, contract or order.
Attention is drawn to the requirements of Def Stan 13-102.
