scope:
This Standard specifies the requirements for distribution transformers intended primarily for operation by electric utilities.
Note: The operation of transformers complying with this Standard, by other than an electric utility, may be subject to additional requirements by the electrical inspection authority having jurisdiction under Part I of the Canadian Electrical Code.
This Standard covers the features of three-phase, live-front, pad- mounted distribution units, consisting of a transformer and a cable entrance compartment that may be separable or integral.
Note:Fordetailsnot covered herein/ reference should be made to CSA Standard C2.
This Standard covers equipment intended for operation on three- phase underground distribution systems having the preferred rated voltages shown in Tables 1 and 2.
The preferred kV*A capacities, at rated voltage, shall be 150, 225, 300, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500.
Tvis Standard applies to three-phase distribution transformer units intended for mounting outdoors on pads without additional protective enclosures. It does not apply to equipment involving enclosures for housing a separate three-phase transformer or a bank of single-phase transformers (see CSA Standard C2), or switchgear.
This Standard is intended to provide interchangeability between pad-mounted units so that it shall be possible to replace one unit by another one of the same basic physical size, but made by a different manufacturer, without modifying the cables or the pad. This Standard covers terminal arrangements for both radial and loop-feed systems, including certain minimum dimensions and certain specific dimensions, but does not imply that the cable entrance compartment of one manufacturer's transformer matches that of another manufacturer's transformer.
