1. SCOPE
These specifications define three levels of heat and corrosion resistant coatings. Coating can be either water or solvent based, powder or aqueous dispersions of aluminum or zinc flake. WSA-M2P170-A1: Miscellaneous low carbon chassis brackets and exhaust hangers where temperatures do not exceed 150 C. A1 is to be a powder or water-based product which can be applied by spray, dip or electrocoat process and be cured below 150 C so that assemblies containing elastomer components will not be affected. WSA-M2P170-A2: Mainly to be used for cosmetic purposes (as a blackout) on muffler rear heads and tail pipes. Temperatures are not to exceed 450 C and typical substrates include low carbon, aluminized low carbon, stainless and aluminized stainless steels. WSA-M2P170-A3: To be used on exhaust components where exceptional heat and corrosion protection properties are required. Temperature resistance is 550 C minimum and substrates include low carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron and powde
