This specification covers the requirements for the typical 25 minutes at 163 degrees C metal temperature bake, thermosetting, sandable, high solids, solvent-borne primer surfacer. It is applied by spraying and may be subsequently topcoated with acrylic enamel or waterborne color coat. The primer surfacer is intended to provide a smooth, adhesion promoting coating over previously applied primers such as cathodic E-coat. Some use may also be as a blackout color in unexposed areas (i.e. underhood or underbody). These coated surfaces have additional requirements set forth in the specifications for subsequent coatings.
