scope:
This specification covers flexible couplings for propulsion units, auxiliary equipment, and line shafts.
Couplings are of the following types and classes as specified (see 6.2):
Type I Dental coupling lubricated by oil circulation. Class 1 275 minimum Brinell tooth hardness. Class 2 350 minimum Brinell tooth hardness. Class 3 Nitrided, 49 minimum Rockwell C tooth hardness. Class 4 Carburized or induction hardened, 56 minimum Rockwell C tooth hardness. Class 5 Nitrided, 59 minimum Rockwell C tooth hardness. Type II Dental coupling, self-contained (grease) lubricant. Class 1 Commercial, 160 minimum Brinell tooth hardness. Class 2 275 minimum Brinell tooth hardness.
