Purpose

The purpose of this instruction is to update basic policy and procedures for intra-Navy supply support of nonconsumable items. Additionally, this instruction will define responsibilities and relationships among the Hardware Systems Commands (HSCs), Program Managers (PMs) Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), and Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) for intra-Navy supply support of nonconsumable items.

This instruction applies to the intra-Navy supply support of nonconsumable items that are used or jointly developed by more than one HSC/PM. This instruction does not apply to initial installation and checkout support of end items or HSC/PM managed items.
