MODUK - DEF STAN 80-92

Lacquer, Phenol-Formaldehyde, Stoving, Type QX

inactive
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1984
Status: inactive
Page Count: 12
scope:

This Standard relates to three phenol-fosmaldehyde stoving lacquers suitable for application to metals by spraying or by dipping and capable of producing a hard, abrasion-resistant coating, which will afford good protection against saline contamination and be compatible with and resistant to explosives. The three lacquers are differentiated by the non-volatile content.

The designation Type QX indicates that the material is of a quality suitable for application where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, its compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Director, Propellants, Explosives and Rocket Motor Establishment, Waltham Abbey.
