MODUK - DEF STAN 80-92

Lacquer, Phenol-Formaldehyde, Stoving, Type QX, Grades 22%, 30%, 39% Types: Dipping Spraying

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1992
Status: inactive
Page Count: 18
scope:

This Standard specifies the requirements for three grades of phenol-formaldehyde lacquer for application to suitably prepared metal substrates. The lacquer coating will provide a finish that will protect the metal against corrosion under saline contamination conditions. The three lacquers are differentiated by the non-volatile content.

The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is of a quality likely to be suitable for application where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, its compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the DRA Military Division ET5, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent TN14 7BP.

Attention is drawn to Defence Standard 13-102, Testing of Materials which are Required to be Compatible with Explosives.
