CWA 13987:2003 is likely to be of interest to any organisation or individual involved in smart card deployment, including providers of smart card enabled terminals for access to public services (Card Acceptors). This part of CWA 13987:2003 is an informative part. It gives guidance on how the Extended User Related Information (eURI) defined in CWA 13987-1:2003 can be implemented and used in simple implementation scenarios (e.g. single application, stand-alone configurations) and how it can be implemented and used in more complex scenarios (multiple applications, networked configurations). This document describes the main pre-requisites and principles for implementation of the eURI and provides an outline of the main processes involved in the life-cycle of the eURI and in operations involving the eURI during a Card Holder session. Considerable flexibility is allowed for defining these processes. The eURI defined in CWA 13987-1 can be implemented in stages, in various ways and on various types of smart card. It can be used in a variety of ways, involving various actors in the Card Community. The guidelines provided in this document attempt to reflect this flexibility. It is recommended that this Part of CWA 13987:2003 be read after Parts 1 and 3, as the former provides a definition of the URI data set and the latter describes the interoperable environment in which the eURI may be implemented. Without a prior knowledge of these aspects, some of the references and details of this document may not be clear to the reader.
