Purpose. The purpose of this guide is to assist contacting offices in utilizing the Indefinite Delivery Type Contract (IDTC). This guide includes discussions covering the entire acquisition spectrum (i.e., receipt of purchase requests, determination of contract type, placement of orders, final invoicing). The IDTC's have been the subject of much controversy and dispute. This guide will acquaint you with the principles applicable to such contracts so that you can avoid some of the problems that have been encountered.
