This Standard relates to two grades of diesel fuel:

Military diesel fuel, F-54 is primarily intended for land-service use on the Central European continent, and generally where mean ambient temperatures down to approximately minus 15 °C may be encountered.

Sub-zero diesel fuel, is intended for land-service use where mean ambient temperatures down to approximately minus 40 °C may be encountered for extended periods.

Note:

Minimum operating temperatures of diesel engines will be dependent on vehicle fuel system design, operating conditions and other factors; therefore the temperatures quoted above are intended only as a guide.
