This specification covers one type of gun-driven feed mechanism for ammunition belted with M14 series links for use on the 20mm, M197 and M197E1 automatic gun. The feeder pulls in the link-belted ammunition, strips the ammunition from the links, ejects the empty links, and feeds the delinked ammunition into the gun. The feeder includes an electrically operated declutching feature for engaging or disengaging the drive.

intended Use:

The feeder assembly M89 or M89E1 is intended to be used to supply ammunition to, and clear rounds from, the M197 or M197E1, 20 Millimeter Automatic Gun.
