MODUK - DEF STAN 93-75

Moulding Material (Phenolic) Black or Natural, Type QX Grade 1 and Grade 2

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1993
Status: inactive
Page Count: 17
scope:

This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for two grades of phenolic moulding material intended for use in the production of mouldings by complression, transfer or injection moulding techniques.

Two grades of material, Grade 1 and Grade 2, differing in their mechanical characteristics and available in either black or natural colour are specified.

Moldings made from this quality of material are also intended for use where metallic corrosion, particularly of non-ferrous metals, could occur.

The designation 'Type ax' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and De:sign Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Energetic Materials and Terminal Effects Department, Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
