This Practice describes the requirements for installing circuits for power and control to AC squirrel cage induction motors (600 volts and below, 60 hp maximum), located in Class I, Division 1 areas. This Practice tabularizes the basic assumptions used in developing these details and provides guidelines for their application.

The details in this Practice are arranged in the following major groups:

a. Above grade circuits in conduit

b. Below grade circuits in conduit

Each major group contains details categorized as follows:

a. Combined power and control wiring in a common raceway

b. Separate raceways for power wiring and for control wiring

c. Power circuits only

d. Control circuits only

Installation details for the following areas are excluded from the scope of this Practice:

a. Installation in Class I, Group A or Group B areas where conduit fittings larger than 1-inch are required.

b. Installation in Class II areas.

Purpose

This Practice provides installation details for power and control circuits to AC squirrel cage induction motors (600 volts and below, 60 hp maximum), in Class I, Division 1 areas.
