Scope of application

This technical code applies to the joining and processing of mouldings and semi-finished products made of thermoplastics with ultrasound, preferably in series fabrication.

All the material-locking and mechanical joining techniques may be understood under the "joining" term, e. g. welding, riveting, swaging, clawing, tamping, edge folding etc. The "welding" designation is only applied to material-locking joints. The technological relationships described in the technical code apply correspondingly to welding, joining and processing using ultrasound.

The procedural sequence (process), the machines, the devices and the tools, the safety measures, the influence of the material properties and manufacturing conditions of the joining parts on the welding behaviour, the structural designing of the joining parts, the process monitoring, the quality assurance and the literature references are described.
