The guideline VDI 2067 deals with calculating the economic efficiency of building installations. It is valid for all types of buildings. Since the calculation of energy consumption is carried on a step-by-step basis, the guideline's parts are presently structured as shown in Figure 1, Section 5 below.

The present Part 1provides an overview of the entire corpus of texts making up VDI 2067. The essential basics and concepts are clarified herein. The standards and guidelines bearing on the respective calculations, as well as any concepts special to the areas dealt with, are listed in the respective other parts.

Part 1 also deals with the calculation of the costs of building installations. The results can be used to compare different installation concepts. They are not intended to be used to predict expected costs.
